Amandines de Provence is an early 20th-century French advertising poster created by Leonetto Cappiello for Biscuits H. Lalo. The palette is the whole story: bold yellow like Provençal sunlight, deep blue-green like the coolness of a salon. The female figure, caught at the moment of the first bite, sells the pleasure of taste with zero effort. The typography is hand-drawn, lively, and slightly theatrical. At the bottom you get the era’s credibility stamp, a Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle silver medal printed as proof.

Leonetto Cappiello (1875 - 1942)
He is often called the father of modern advertising. A self-taught artist from Livorno, Cappiello arrived in Paris in the late nineteenth century as a caricaturist for the satirical press. In poster art he found his true artistic voice: the first to pull the figure from the background, with pure colors and stark contrast. His posters for drinks, fashion, food and entertainment brands, changed the visual language of advertising for generations to come.
